Apple Complaint to ITC: HTC Patent Infringement

lawsuit court malletApple has filed yet another suit against HTC, claiming patent infringement with the International Trade Commission.

The ITC is still reviewing the complaint that was filed by Apple on Friday.  This is the second such case Apple has filed against the Taiwanese smartphone and tablet manufacturer.

HTC maintains their innocence in all claims made against them from Apple in the past and present.  According to Grace Lei, general counsel for the Taiwanese company, “HTC is dismayed that Apple has resorted to competition in the courts rather than the market place”.

The previous lawsuit between the two companies was made in March.  Apple suggested that HTC infringed on over 20 patents.  HTC fired back with a complaint of their own to the International Trade Commission that Apple had infringed on five of their patents.  They had hoped to cease the sale of Apple products (iPhone, iPad, iPod) to the U.S.  In each case, the parties are looking to protect their intellectual property.
