Playstation Store and Sony Services to Return by Week’s End

sony in newsSony plans to bring back all of their Playstation Network services by the end of the week.  This will include the Playstation Store.

On Playstation.com, Sony indicated through a blog that all of their services will return to the Americas, Europe and Asia–excluding Hong Kong, South Korea and Japan.

This long-awaited announcement comes after the worst Internet hack in its history.  That attack targeted ten of Sony’s servers and exposed roughly 100 million user accounts.  It had long lasting effects, slowing down Sony after the April 17th attack for over a month.

Sony Executive Deputy Vice President Kazuo Hirai stated, “We have been conducting additional testing and further security verification of our commerce functions in order to bring the PlayStation Network completely back online so that our fans can again enjoy the first class entertainment experience they have come to love”.  To the enjoyment of many fans, this announcement will also allow for them to make good on Sony’s promise for free games and video services for a month.

Though this is refined to a select few games and movies, it is a good deal considering what PSN users have had to undergo through all this.  The uncertainty of Sony’s ability to secure their private account information has left many customers turned-off.  Finally, with the return of full services, Sony can work to win back many of their lost fans.
