Samsung Files Retaliatory Suit Against Apple

Samsung has filed a lawsuit against Apple requesting they hand over their next generation models of the iPad and iPhone.

This could be perceived as a retaliatory move.  Apple, not long before this motion filed a similar suit to view Samsung’s Galaxy devices.  Apple’s motion was granted–forcing Samsung to participate.  Samsung is hoping for a similar result.

The difference in Samsung’s suit is that they are requesting to see future products that have yet to be announced or even seen.  Apple normally does a good job of keeping their products under wraps until they are prepared to launch them.  Apple succeeded in their motion because the Samsung products they requested to view were already being advertised by Samsung at several Conferences.  Apple was hoping to compare the Samsung products with the ones they already have in the market, not future models.

apple in newsAccording to a statement released by the company, “Samsung is responding actively to the legal action taken against us in order to protect our intellectual property and to ensure our continued innovation and growth in the mobile communications business”.

Samsung has asked for the most up-to-date versions of the Apple devices by June 13, 2011.

These suits between Apple and Samsung prolongs an already discernible relationship between the two companies.  However, COO Tim Cook stated that their partnership is still strong.  They are hoping these suits are resolved quickly in order that they can move forward on that partnership.  The disputes are merely between their mobile communication divisions.
